Back in February, we featured Reframd, a Berlin startup that designs glasses for Black people. Turns out it wasn't the only company that thought it was high time Black consumers got access to frames that wouldn't slide down their noses.
Sisters Clare and Christina Kimeze were frustrated that most eyewear is designed for Caucasian facial features. Which is why they created Kimeze. The London-based brand launched its debut range in May, featuring premium acetate sunglasses and optical frames in shapes and colors specifically designed to complement brown facial structures and skin tones.
As Clare Kimeze told the Guardian, "There is a consumer group of over a billion people that has been overlooked. Of course this needs to change." Kimeze's eyeware is available for preorder now, with shipping estimated to start late August.
